Biography: Suzuki Harunobu was born around 1725 and died in 1770, aged about 45. He was the first of the ukiyo-e artists to create full-color prints, instead of the two- to three-color prints that were produced by earlier artists. Harunobu often used up to ten different blocks in creating his prints. Who his master was is unclear, but his work shows signs of being influenced by Torii Kiyomitsu, Ishikawa Toyonobu, and Nishikawa Sukenobu. Through his innovations and refinement of the art he influenced all ukiyo-e artists that followed. Check out our
