Biography: David Hockney was born in 1937 in Bradford, England. He studied art at Bradford College of Art and the Royal College of Art in London. Although there were also expressionist elements in his work, he was associated early with the Pop Art movement. He visited Andy Warhol on a visit to New York in 1963, and then later in the 1960s he settled in California, where he created a series of paintings of swimming pools for which he became well-known. Hockney has also worked with lithographs and photomontages. He is one of the most successful living artists, with paintings selling for several million dollars. Check out our
