The Les Nabis ("The Prophets") were a group of artists who formed in the 1890s, most of which might also be included among the Post-Impressionists. Their primary influence was Paul Gauguin, especially the paintings from his Tahitian period. Artists who belonged to the group or are associated with it include: Aristide Maillol (1861-1944), Paul Ranson (1864-1909),
Paul Serusier (1864-1927), Felix Vallotton (1865-1925), Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947), Edouard Vuillard (1868-1940), and Maurice Denis (1870-1943). The Les Nabis style also had links to the Symbolist and Pre-Rafaelite art movements.
