Biography: Charles Loupot was born in 1892 in Nice, France, to French-Swiss parents. He died in 1962. He studied art at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, France. He was seriously wounded fighting for France in the First World War, after which he returned to his parent's house in Lausanne, Switzerland, to recuperate. In 1916, he is employed by a printing company where he studied lithography. In 1923, he left Lausanne for Paris, where in 1925 he exhibited in the Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs, from which the term "Art Deco" was coined to denote the emerging style. In 1930, he joined with A.M. Cassandre to form Alliance Graphique in 1930. Later, Jean Carlu joined the group. He created poster designs for PKZ, Peugeot, Cafe Martin, Coty, and other clients.
