Biography: Fred Taylor was born in 1875 in London, England. He died in 1963. He studied art at Goldsmith's College, before winning a scholarship to study and travel in Italy. His poster designing career extended from 1908 to the 1940s, receiving many commissions, many for designing travel posters for the LNER railway (London & North Eastern Railway) advertising both domestic and foreign vacation destinations. Taylor also exhibited paintings regularly at the Royal Academy exhibitions. During the Second World War, he worked for the War Office creating naval camouflage, as well as designing war-time propaganda posters.
