Vintage Allan Line Posters are a great way to decorate your living space in a maritime or travel theme. Captain Alexander Allan began shipping goods and produce by sailing ship between Greenock, Scotland, and Montreal, Canada, in 1819. His son, Sir Hugh Allan, took over the business upon his father's death in 1854, creating the Montreal Ocean Steamship Company, under which the Allan Line, now utilizing steamships, operated, between Liverpool, Glasgow, or London and French Canada (Quebec and Montreal). Other longer standing destinations included Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Buenos Aires, and Havre, France. It ceased operating as the Allan Line when it was bought out by Canadian Pacific in 1918.
