Vintage Citroen Posters are a great way to decorate your living space in an automobile, French, or nostalgic theme. Citroen was founded in 1919 by Andre-Gustave Citroen, who had been an arms manufacturer in WWI. In 1924, Citroen pioneered the first steel car bodies in Europe. In 1933, the company developed the Rosalie, the first commercially-available diesel-powered passenger car; in 1934, the Traction Avant model featured unibody construction (without separate frame), independent suspension, and front-wheel drive. Developing new models and technologies took its toll, however, leading to bankruptcy in 1934, with Michelin taking over control of the company. During WWII, the president of Citroen, Pierre Jules Boulanger, refused to meet with the German authorities except through intermediaries. He was responsible for organizing work slowdowns and sabotage of production at Citroen's plants that were producing trucks for the Germans.
