Vintage Orient Express Posters are a great way to decorate your living space in a railway or international theme. The Orient Express was an international long-distance express train operated by the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits from 1883 to 2009. The Express d'Orient route originally ran from Paris, via Munich and Vienna, to Romania, then by ferry and another train to Istanbul. The first non-stop train from Paris to Istanbul ran in 1889. In 1891, the name was changed to "The Orient Express." Following the opening of the Simplon Tunnel through the Alps following WWI in 1919, a separate train, the Simplon Orient Express, ran from Paris, through Milan, Venice, and Trieste, to Constantinople/Istanbul. A third train, the Arlberg Orient Express ran in the 1930s, through Zurich to Athens. From 2001, the route ran from Paris to Vienna, until ceasing in 2007. From the 1930s, a private company has run a service, called the Orient-Express (w/hyphen), from London through Paris to Venice, and then onto Istanbul, a service that continues to run today, using original vintage cars.
