Vintage P & O Line Posters are a great way to decorate your living space in a maritime or travel theme. The Peninsular & Oriental Steam Ship Company (or "P&O," for short) was incorporated in 1837, although its antecedents were doing business back to 1822, carrying passengers and freight between England and the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal, thus, "Peninsular" in the name). In 1840, it began serving Alexandria, Egypt, and in 1914 expanded to India in 1914 by taking over the British India Steam Ship Company, and to Australia in 1918 by taking over the Orient Line. By the mid-1920s, the P&O owned close to 500 ships. Some 264 of its ships were sunk in WWI and WWII.
