Vintage Red Star Line Posters are a great way to decorate your living space in a maritime or travel theme. The Red Star Line was founded in 1871 by Clement Griscom. It was an American-Belgian joint venture, between the International Navigation Company in Philadelphia and the Societe Anonyme de Navigation Belgo-Americaine (or Belgian-American Navigation Company) in Antwerp. It ran passenger ocean liners between Antwerp and South Hampton in Europe and New York and Philadelphia in the U.S. The first three ships it ordered were the SS Vaderland, SS Nederland, and SS Switzerland, beginning a tradition of naming its ships ending with -land. Nearly three million emigrants traversed the Atlantic to America on Red Star Line ships.
