Vintage Ringling Brothers Posters are a great way to decorate your living space in a circus theme. The Ringling Brothers Circus started in 1884, founded by five Ringling brothers (out of seven). In their first year they operated as Yankee Robinson and Ringling Brothers, with Robinson as announcer. Robinson had had his own earlier circus, the Yankee Robinson Circus, which had foundered in 1875, so the Ringling Brothers, as newcomers, were trading on his name familiarity. By the end of their first season, however, they'd dropped Robinson and were operating as simply the Ringling Brothers Circus. Starting out small, it eventually became one of the two largest circuses in the U.S., along with the Barnum & Bailey Circus. Starting in 1889, Ringling Brothers began travelling between shows using railroad cars, instead of horse-drawn wagons. In 1907, they acquired the Barnum & Bailey Circus, forming the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
