Biography: Henri Privat-Livemont was born in 1861 in Schaerbeek, Belgium and died in 1936, also in Schaerbeek. He studied art at the Ecole des Arts Decoratives in Saint-Josse-ten-Node, near Schaerbeek. After winning a scholarship, he lived in Paris, France, from 1883 to 1889, during which time worked with the firm of Lemaire, Lavastre & Duvignaud in decorating the Theatre Francais and the Hotel de Ville. He is best known for his poster design advertising Absinthe Robette. Privat-Livemont is generally associated with the Art Nouveau art movement. Privat-Livemont was clearly influenced by Alphonse Mucha - since he was in Paris at the same time as Mucha from 1887 to 1889, it is quite possible that he knew, studied under, or worked with Mucha. Other key Art Nouveau artists include Gustav Klimt, Audrey Beardsley, Koloman Moser, Privat Livemont, Antonio Gaudi, and Georges de Feure.
