Biography: Robert Falcucci was born in 1900 in Verdese, Corsica. He died in 1982 in Saint Aubin, France. In 1911, his father, who was a postmaster, was transferred to Burgundy. He tried to join the Army in 1917, but was turned away as too young, but later enlisted in 1919. After the war, he studied art at the Ecole Normale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. From 1923 to 1927, he directed advertising campaigns for Renault. In 1930-32, Falcucci designed the first posters for the Monaco Grand Prix, and influenced Geo Ham (Georges Hamel), who designed the 1933-1937 posters for the race. Following WWII, he worked as an illustrator and decorator. Besides working as a poster designer, Falcucci was also a serious painter, painting portraits, landscapes, still lifes, nudes, and military scenes.
