Trees Tips:
Select a fresh tree, rather than rely opon chemical sprays or coatings to flame-proof your tree.
A fresh tree has green wood. If not, don't buy it.
If needles can easily be pulled from or are falling off of the branches, don't buy it. The needles on a fresh tree should be hard to pull off.
Place the tree away from fireplaces, radiators, heaters, or other heat sources.
Before mounting the tree in its stand, cut off about two inches from its base. This will help your tree to better absorb water from the stand bowl and stay fresh longer.
Fasten a large tree to walls or the ceiling using guy wires, especially if you have rambunctious pets or children in the house.
Keep the stand bowl filled and replenished with water. This is the most important thing you can do to extend the life of your tree.
