Biography: Bernard Villemot was born in 1911 at Trouville-sur-Mer (Calvados), France. He died in 1989. He studied art at the Julian Academy in Paris. He designed his first poster in 1936. His poster designs are noted for their use of vivid colors and bold forms. He is a rare example of a poster artist who was successful beyond the end of the golden age of the poster (the end of World War II).
Best known for his posters for the Orangina beverage brand, he also created poster designs for Perrier, Bally Shoes, and Air France. He was particularly influenced by Paul Colin, Leonetto Cappiello, and A.M. Cassandre. He was a significant influence on modern graphic design.
