- The Bare Bones Guide to HTML by Kevin Werbach.
- Hypertext Markup Language - 2.0 by T. Berners-Lee and D. Connolly. This is the consumate definition, from the godfathers of HTML, of "basic" HTML (or HTML 2.0).
- Introduction to HTML by Eric A. Meyer and Case Western Reserve University. The most novel aspect of this site is the interactive quizzes which follow after each chapter. Now includes two sequels, one on HTML 2.0 Forms, the other on HTML 3.2.
- Sizzling HTML Jalfrezi. A to Z reference, plus lists, tables, forms, frames, image maps, style sheets, and more.
- Introduction to HTML by Ian Graham. Excellent A to Z reference.
- HTML Help Centre by Neil Macmillan & Associates. An excellent collection of resource links for learning HTML and developing web sites.
- HTML Code Tutorial. Covers all the basic HTML tags, plus using forms, frames, sounds, tables, applets, scripts, and embedded objects. Also includes a tutorial on creating pop-up windows.
